Born and raised in Detroit, SerenadeThaBoss comes from deep Motown blood, shaped by a family of singers, songwriters, and musicians. Raised in the church, Serenade’s foundation was built through gospel harmonies before expanding into formal acting classes, vocal coaching, and arts school training—laying the groundwork for a multifaceted performer.

Both parents were singers and writers, and music was not just an influence but a lineage. Early in their career, Serenade was signed to COS Records, an imprint under Interscope Records, where they performed and developed multiple musical projects under the artist name Jay ALi.

In 2013, the passing of Serenade’s mother marked a profound turning point, leading to a period of deep personal reflection and transformation. Emerging from that chapter, they rebranded as Serenade, alongside COS Records’ evolution into Dawn Soul Records. Though both ultimately chose to part ways, the rebrand signaled a new era of independence and artistic clarity.

In 2020, Serenade released their debut mixtape Winter Is Coming under the name SerenadeThaBoss. The project’s standout single, “Super Stamina,” earned placement on a Bud Light–curated Spotify playlist, signaling industry recognition. SerenadeTheBoss has also received nods from respected artists including Jazmine Sullivan and Durand Bernarr.

Now fully independent, SerenadeThaBoss is the founder of LCA Recordings LLC, marking a new chapter of ownership, creative freedom, and business leadership. With over 20 years of experience in music, Serenade stands as a seasoned, resilient artist—rooted in legacy, sharpened by adversity, and ready to go even further.
